The effect of HTF inlet temperature on charging The effect of the inlet temperature of HTF on charging time was also investigated. The charging tests were run at 70 and 75°C for the same flow rate (4 L/min). It is shown in Figure 3.11 that the temperature increase at the center top thermocouple was identical for both cases at the initial state. However, the higher inlet temperature led to faster melting and triggered the earlier onset of natural convection, which dominated the melting process during charging (Dinker et al., 2017).
