(2013) A* 1 Goss (2011) A* The high quality ranking of journals publishing empirical studies about entrepreneuring as emancipation – three A*s, two As, and no Bs or Cs – implies that the emancipatory perspective is perceived as legitimate by management publishers and reviewers, and relevant to readers of high-prestige management journals. Perhaps surprisingly, possible connections between emancipation and business ecosystems are unexplored in the published research literature on entrepreneuring as emancipation. The next section reviews the published literature on business ecosystems. 2.2 Business ecosystems James Moore’s (1993) award winning Harvard Business Review article, “Predators and prey: A new ecology of competition,” introduced the business ecosystem concept into management discourse and argued that modern businesses reside not within a single industry sector but rather within a business ecosystem that crosses multiple industries.
