Recall that events are constructs; as constructs, they are not directly observable, but rather are indicated by incidents in the source material (Abbot, 1984; Van de Ven, 2007). The events in this research are occurrences of the three core elements of the emancipation perspective of entrepreneuring (Rindova et al. 2009): seeking autonomy (SA), authoring (A), and making declarations (MD), reviewed in section 2.1. Table 18 is a cross-tabulation of event counts by entrepreneur and event type. Approximately half of the events were associated with Musk (n=17), one quarter with Diamandis (n=8), and one quarter with Branson (n=7). This difference is likely explained by the nature of the source material: Vance (2015), the source for Musk, has more to say about Musk’s space venture than either Diamandis & Kotler (2015) or Branson (2015), the sources for Diamandis and Branson respectively, have to say about space ventures.
