(2006), is a novel Higee device that is mainly constructed by a series of concentric rotor-rings and stator-rings alternately configured in the radial direction, which can generate centrifugal shear field inside the RSR based on high rotating speed to cause the liquid stream to break up into small liquid droplets or to form thin liquid films, and turbulent fluid streams. The RSR that has advantages in sealing and even circumferential distribution of liquid can result in a remarkable intensification of both micromixing and mass transfer processes. Chu et al. (2007) also designed a novel rotor- stator reactor (Figure 18) for the investigation of micromixing efficiency of the reactor. They reported that the micromixing time of the RSR (10-5 s) was estimated to be less than that of the rotating packed bed (10-4 s). Figure 18. Schematic description of RSR.
