Focusing on the propulsion system, the 14% down-size in design thrust of the geared turbofan leads to a decrease of 14% in the combustion-based power plant weight. However, due to the installation of the electric fans, which includes the weight of the ducted fans and of the electric motors, the combined propulsion system weight is increased by 24%. The installation of the PMAD with 1348 kg results in a 37% increase in electrical system weight. Consequently, the OEW of the hybrid- electric aircraft is 16% higher. The release fuel (including block and reserves/contingency) is reduced by 8%. The block fuel reduction was found to be around 15%. The total battery mass installed is 11740 kg.
