The controlling step is defined as the most time-consuming step with respect to other steps. Whereas, a chemical-reaction-controlling process occurs when the concentration profile across the boundary layer is negligible, resulting in an assumption that the concentration of reactant B at the interface of solid A is equal to the bulk concentration of B.
