For the pressure increase effect, it shows that pressure increase effects on WRP are very small at 150 C and 200 C, while about 2.5% WRP increase is presented by pressure increase from2000psito4000psiat250 Ctemperaturelevel.Whentreatmenttimeisgivenfor6hours with 7 mole % of water added, the pressure increases from 4000 psi to 6000 psi induce very small increase of WRP at the three temperature levels. c) Summary From the above studies, we can conclude that the pressure increase effects on WRP are very smallat150 Cand200 C,whileover2%ofWRPincreaseareinducedbypressureincreaseat 250 C temperature level when 7 mole % of water is added as co-solvent. For PCB dissolution process with 3 hours treatment, a 2000 psi increase at 4000 psi pressure level can induce over 2% increase in WRP; for PCB dissolution process with 6 hours treatment, a 2000 psi increase at 2000 psi pressure level can induce over 2% increase in WRP. By the analysis, PCB dissolution in SCF CO2 is not highly related to pressure factor when 7 mole % of water is added as environmentally benign co-solvent. The conclusion is consistent with the results obtained before in pure CO2 treatment of PCB specimen. The two studies confirm that pressure increase from 2000 psi to 6000 psi can induce small increase, at most 2%, in WRP at the three temperature levels and two time levels. Temperature effect with H2O added as co-solvent This part is for examining the effect of temperature change on PCB dissolution in SCF CO2 when 7 mole % of water is added as co-solvent in the experiment. a) Temperature effect on WRP with 7 mole % H2O added for 3 hour treatment The WRP data on SCF CO2 treatment of PCBs at the three temperature and pressure levels when 7 mole% of water is added as co-solvent and the dissolution time is given for 3 hours. The result is shown in Figure 14. The figure demonstrates a small increase tendency of WRP at the threepressurelevelswhentemperatureincreasesbetween150 Cand200 Cwhilearapidlarge increase of WRP happens when temperature increases in the region between 200 C to 250 C, when 7 mole % of water is added to CO2 as environmentally benign co-solvent to enhance the interactions between PCB resins and SCF CO2, with the PCB dissolution time given for 3 hours in SCF CO2 treatment.
