Ordinance defines what a geothermal resource is and establishes the legal framework for exploring and exploiting geothermal resources in Nevis.325 The Geothermal Ordinance also establishes the Geothermal Resources Advisory Committee, which is led by the minister responsible for natural resources, to develop and implement renewable energy policies in Nevis.326 14.1.3 Institutional structure of the electricity sector Nevis Electricity Company Ltd. (NEVLEC), a vertically integrated and state-owned electricity utility, is the sole provider of electricity in Nevis.
