This neutrally charged water was then sprinkled over newly harrowed and sown fields. The harrow had wooden and not iron teeth. The water eventually evaporated leaving exceedingly fine crystals which carried a negative charge. These crystals attracted rays from all directions and then gave them out again.24 Between the geosphere and the atmosphere, a fine mem- brane, violet in colour, builds up. This skin, acting like a filter, allows rays of the highest value to enter and leave the earth. The down-to-earth farmer called this filter 'the virgin hymen'48 Such a valuable diffusion effect could be obtained, that during the driest part of the year, the soil remained cool and moist.
