8.1.3.3 Agricultural Water Demand Produced water, which can be generally described as brackish ground water, could easily be put to use as agricultural water for irrigation or livestock watering. Data was obtained for the U.S. Department of Agriculture to describe the amount of irrigation in the Western United States. These data were mapped on the base map, figure 29. The maps presented in figures 28 and 29 can be used to draw general conclusions about the use of produced water for streamflow augmentation, municipal uses, general water supply augmentation, and agricultural uses. At the macroscopic level, it does appear that there is a geographical relationship between produced water generation and beneficial uses of produced water. Figure 29.
