The discrepancies induced by such assumptions for compressor calculations, as well as a qualitative analysis of the effects of dissociation, were discussed earlier. As stated, γ is highly sensitive to pressure and this can be observed more clearly in Fig. 4.4. In general, the higher the pressure the smaller the effects of dis- sociation on γ and on the rest of the caloric properties will be. For very high temperatures and extremely low pressures which are unlikely to occur in mod- ern gas turbine applications - the deviation of the value of γ compared to values obtained from the no-dissociation model can be as much as 12%. It can easily be observed in Fig. 4.4 that for high temperatures the error in calculating γ will drop by 1% to 3% for every order of magnitude increase in pressure.
