Results and discussion Increasing the inorganic filler (sulfonated mordenite) did not improve the fuel cell power density therefore, the inorganic filler must be optimized (in terms of wt%) to reach the ideal amount of inorganic filler when fabricating modified binding layer. In following illustration, LSV technique and EIS technique will be used to determine the methanol crossover as well as the proton conductivities of standard MEA, mordenite binding layer MEA, and sulfonated mordenite binding layer MEA. 6.4.2 Effect of Methanol Crossover on SULFO-MOR Modified Binding Layer MEA in DMFC The investigation of the three MEAs was carried out by plotting the methanol crossover. This behaviour was seen when comparing standard MEA with F-MOR MEA. In the case of SULFO-MOR MEA, the methanol crossover was 84 mA/cm2, which was higher than the F-MOR MEA 80 mA/cm2.
