Results and discussion wt% GO MEA at 70°C operating temperature and 1.0 M methanol concentration. The power density of the 1.0 wt% GO MEA was 30 % higher than the standard MEA and the methanol crossover was 18.6% less at 70°C and 1.0 M. All three MEAs (F-MOR, SULFO-MEA, and GO MEA) showed better fuel cell performance when inorganic fillers reduce the methanol crossover in DMFC. This indicates that DMFC was limited by the methanol crossover more than proton conductivity which also was found in good agreement with Li et al [148] model plot in which it suggests, depending on the MEA selectivity position on the plot, the fuel cell is limited by crossover or by proton conductivity. If MEA selectivity is above dashed line in their plot then the fuel cell is limited by crossover. The fuel cell is ohmic limited when fuel cell point is below dashed line. Plotting the standard MEA, F-MOR, GO- MOR, shows that the DMFC was limited by methanol crossover.
