accuracy of the discretization scheme show this approach is reasonably accurate in capturing the dynamics of PSA systems governed by hyperbolic PDAEs and steep adsorption fronts, and can be used for PSA systems with efficient NLP solvers like IPOPT. To improve upon the accuracy of the results and eliminate the verification step, a sensitivity-based sequential approach, similar to Jiang et al. [100], will be developed in future to solve the optimal control problem. Finally, our superstructure based methodology, demonstrated for post-combustion capture in this work, is quite generic and can be extended to many other PSA applications.
