U.S. EIA Electricity and Natural Gas Prices Electric Power Monthly is a report prepared by the EIA that summarizes the average price paid by industrial customers purchasing electricity on a state-by-state basis. WWTFs are treated as industrial customers because they are fairly large electricity consumers and they consume power throughout the day and night, as do other industrial facilities. Data are collected from a multitude of EIA forms, as well as from other federal sources. Wastewater Treatment Facility Interviews The CHPP attempted to contact 30 WWTFs that have operational CHP systems and ultimately spoke with 14 facilities. The WWTFs chosen for contact and those ultimately interviewed represent operational, geographical, and technological diversity. Information obtained from interviews included operational insights and addressed drivers and benefits of CHP; barriers and challenges encountered; and lessons learned.
