Figure 5. The band structure of (a) spin up electrons in FM 7-ByNR, (b) spin down electrons in FM 7-ByNR, (c) AFM 7-ByNR, and (d) NM 8- BxNR. Magnetic properties of pristine BxNRs and ByNRs. The robust non- magnetic (NM) nature of BxNRs and the robust metallic nature of of BxNRs together suggest a screening of local magnetic moments by conduction electrons. In ByNRs, however, spin polarization calculations suggest that there may be spontaneous magnetization. Figure 6 (a) and (b) depict the spin density distribution of AFM and FM 8-ByNR, respectively. As seen, finite magnetic moment mainly distributes at edge atoms while the magnetic moments are very small in the interior of BNR. In the AFM state, spin configuration between two edges are AFM-like, i.e., the twoPDF Image | Magnetic Properties of Borophene Nanoribbons
