As shown in Figure 52a with a nozzle size of 340 μm, when the distance was too small (~0.5 mm), the ink would deform and contact the substrate without droplet formation; when the distance was too large (~2.5 mm), the jetted droplets would breakup and thus a spray, rather than a series of drops, would be collected on the substrate, which is exactly the case for electrospraying.226 Only with a proper distance (~1 mm), a stable stream of ink droplets could be ejected onto the substrate to achieve desirable printing resolution.
