This chart indicates the modeled energy use for each Title 24 code update for the Northern California inland climate. Over 45 years, there’s been an 85% reduction in energy consumption - this is the net effect of all the work that goes into the California Energy Code (Title 24, Part 6). The California Energy Code makes a difference! California has the goal of 100% carbon neutral electric power by 2045. Additional considerations: As of October 1, 2019, ultralow NOx furnaces are required in new residential construction in the South Coast Air Quality Management District and San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District. This will also significantly reduce CO2 emissions. As of January 1, 2020, Title 24, Part 6 now has a prescriptive requirement for low-rise residential new construction for Solar Photovoltaic (PV ) systems. With solar, you can run a heat pump for significantly less (about 1/3 less). PROPERTY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON, 2020. DO NOT ALTER. 43
