By calculations, it shows that a 2000 psi increase of pressure brings very small increase in WRP; a 4000 psi increase of pressure brings more in WRP increase. The result shows that WRP increasebypressurechangeismoresignificantat250 Ctemperaturelevelthanthatattheother two temperature level while the number is still small when considering experimental errors. c) Summary From the two group studies, we can conclude that the increase of pressure from 2000 psi to 4000 and to 6000 psi induces very small increase in WRP result. The PCB dissolution in SCF CO2 treatment is dependent on but not highly related to pressure increases when pressure is set above 2000 psi and other conditions are set in their functional region for PCB treatment in SCF CO2. More work is needed in future to optimize the pressure effect by studying various pressure levels lower than 2000 psi. It will be both economically and environmentally satisfied with identification of a lower pressure where acceptable WRP could be achieved. Temperature effect This part is for examining the effect of temperature change on PCB dissolution in SCF CO2 through analysis of WRP data. The temperature is studied at three levels, 150 C, 200 C and 250 C,respectively,atthesamepressureandtimelevel.TheaveragedWRPisanalyzedintwo groups according to the two time levels. a) Temperature effect with 3 hour treatment The result is shown in Figure 7. The figure demonstrates a small increase tendency of WRP when temperature increases from 150 C to 200 C, while a rapid large increase of WRP presented when temperature increase from 200 C to 250 C. The data shows that temperature increase from 150 C to 200 C induce very small WRP increases, while temperature increase from 200 C to 250 C can induce large increases in WRP at the three pressure levels when dissolution time is given for 3 hours. b) Temperature effect with 6 hour treatment The result is shown in figure 8. The three WRP lines also demonstrate a slight WRP increase tendency when temperature is increased from 150 C to 200 C while rapid WRP increases happen when temperature increased from 200 C to 250 C. 13 Weight loss (%)
