Salgenx Energy Storage Simultaneous Desalination

A breakthrough in desalination technology has been announced today with the unveiling of a new system that uses a saltwater flow battery (BESS) cycle to produce clean drinking water from seawater. This innovative solution has been developed to create a sustainable and cost-effective way of storing energy while simultaneously producing fresh water.

The desalination system operates by using a saltwater flow battery cycle without the need for a membrane. The system can use a renewable energy source, such as solar power or large wind turbine, to charge the battery, making it both environmentally friendly and cost-effective.

Infinity Turbine IT10 Waste Heat to Energy System for biomass organic rankine cycle as an alternative to the orc screw expander

About Infinity Turbine LLC

Waste Heat Power: For years we've been hearing requests from customers who would like to use their waste heat to generate power, both on land and marine applications.  To meet that demand, we formed Infinity Turbine LLC in 2008 and developed the IT10, the worlds first production 10 kw ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle) waste heat to power generator.

New developments in CO2 Brayton Cycle may allow efficiencies to reach 30-50 percent. This is a huge increase from the legacy ORC process which has a system efficiency (bottoming cycle) of 5-15 percent).

We now offer a CO2 Turbine Development Platform for educators and energy developers.

Viktor Schauberger

Viktor Schauberger was a student of nature and more specifically water flows. He was gifted with the patient skills of observation and an appreciation of the outdoors.

His fascination of mountain streams and how water worked for the environment led to many innovations and inventions which pertain to flow control and the science of water. He realized that water flows were similar to air (just a different density) which led to his lift turbines and craft.

He was one of the first scientists to realize that water has many dimensions and structure. Water has surface tension and boundary layer mechanisms, which were revolutionary before 1900. Of course Nikola Tesla also realized this with his disc turbine around the same period.

Many of his early innovations were focussed around the transport of sawn timber and transporting and then sorting them by use of water and displacement. Back then, transporting timber from the mountains was not without problems. This was before helicopter lifts, trucks (and roads), and aerial cable lift lines.

Simultaneous brine treatment and energy storage with lithium brine mining process bonus that Tesla is patenting

Simultaneous brine treatment and energy storage with lithium brine mining process bonus that Tesla is patenting

What is Brine

What is brine?

In general, brine is any solution with an extremely high concentration of salts, such as sodium chloride, which can occur either naturally (as with seawater, deep-water ocean pools, salt lakes, producer water from oil and gas drilling) or as a byproduct of industry. These byproducts, or brine waste streams, are typically highly concentrated salt solutions that, in some cases, contain more than twice the amount of concentrated salts than natural brine solutions.

Brine waste streams can also be highly concentrated with total dissolved solids (TDS), such as waste streams in many chemical manufacturing processes, and they can be some of the most challenging to treat or discharge because their composition and purification requirements are dynamic and complex.

Some examples of brine waste created as a byproduct of industry include:

-cooling tower and boiler effluent

-reverse osmosis (RO) and ion exchange waste/reject streams

-produced water from extracting oil and natural gas

chlor-alkali and chemical plant waste

-acid rock and mine drainage

-food preservation and manufacturing waste streams

-desalination waste from potable water creation

irrigation runoff

Our novel solution is treating this solution considered and expensive headache, into a battery technology system.

Elon Musk and Tesla even think that recovery of lithium from brine is worth patenting. However, they are not the first to do so. (1962 Lithium from Brine Patent)

Battery Technology: With the advent of the new USA tax credits for producing and selling batteries ($35/kW) we are focussing on a simple flow battery using shipping containers as the modular electrolyte storage units with tax credits up to $140,000 per system. We are focussing on the salt battery. This battery can be used for both thermal and electrical storage applications. We call it the Cogeneration Battery or Cogen Battery.

We are also looking into converting salt based water conditioners to simultaneously produce power.

Considered a hybrid between a standard flow battery and a thermal storage device, the battery provides simultaneous heat or cold liquid storage as well as electrical energy storage.

The Cogen Battery has a variety of applications which include:

-storage of thermal energy (heating or cooling) from unused thermal resources

-storage of electrical power for backup power and grid strength

-utility grid power rate mining opportunities to store off-peak low cost power for later use during demand (on-peak) hours

-storage of thermal energy for Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) power production while simultaneously storing the electrical output from the turbine generator

-using off-peak low cost power to make heating and cooling for later use

-reducing peak demand utility rates by peak energy shaving

Sand Battery Basics

A sand battery is simply a thermal storage device that accepts and rejects heat. While its current use is primarily heating, it can also be used for cooling. Silicon dioxide (sand) is thermally stable up to around 1000 C, and has a high heat capacity.

The goal is a cost effective method of storing energy. With properly insulated storage containment, thermal energy can be stored for months.

The basic setup is a insulated container of sand, with a arrangement of conduit (pipes) embedded in the sand. That simple. The commercial prototype in Finland projects a investment cost of less than 10 Euros per kWh of storage capacity.

The concept of a sand battery is similar to using geothermal cooling (putting fluid conduit, including liquid or gas in the ground) but in this case, it's using sand instead of Earth.

Other forms of using Earth materials for thermal storage:

Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) has been used commercially for air conditioning (commonly referred to as Sea Water Air Conditioning or SWAC). It is used at The Brando Resort in Tahiti where the temperature of sea water is 4-5 C at 960 meters down. In Switzerland Lac Leman (Geneva) and Lake Walensee (Densitas AG) are utilizing 6 C deep lake cooling.

A commerical ice storage method called CalMac has been used for decades which uses off peak evening power to make ice, which is stored in huge insulated tanks, for later use as air conditioning.

Diesel Generator ORC Power Produced in kW

Diesel Generator ORC Power Produced in kW

Utilizing waste heat from Diesel Generators to make free power.

Taking waste heat from diesel generators can produce free power in a Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) system. The sources of waste heat are engine cooling (replacing large coolant system fan) and stack exhaust which is normally waste heat to the atmosphere.

The ORC does require a cool liquid condenser flow, but generally can utilize the waste heat from the diesel engine to provide 28 percent savings. Generally a 500 kW diesel or larger are prime candidates for utilizing waste heat to make power. Those savings may be greater than $200,000 USD per year for a 500 kW or larger generator running 24/7.

Exhaust to Power: With an additional waste heat to thermal oil heat exchanger, you can capture the diesel exhaust from the pipe to supply heat to the Infinity turbine. This is about 40 percent of total fuel savings as shown in chart below.

Coolant to Power: Pipe straight to the Infinity turbine. This is about 32 percent of total fuel savings as shown in chart below.

IT Micro Redstone Turbine with Counter-rotating Pump printed in 3D metal

IT Micro Redstone 3D Metal Turbine with 2 inch Diameter Counter-rotating Pump

The goal of the Redstone project was to incorporate all moving and rotating functions into one component. This is done by using a layered up rotating assembly, or 3D printed in metal or cast carbon fiber.

Expander (turbine): CO2, ORC, Rankine Cycle, refrigerants, CO2, compressed air, water

Compressor (pump): water, CO2, air, refrigerants

Shaft Free: Turbine assembly is the shaft (magnetic bearings or perimeter bearings).

Cavitation Disc: Can be used for making fluids go supercritical (ex. CO2), or can be plugged with magnets to produce induction heating.

History: The Redstone project was made into 3D printed metal (sintered) steel. What we found was that larger parts tended to lose tolerance as the parts grew in size, so the turbine was designed at 2 inches or less in diameter and turned to true for high speed rotational tolerance. The housing castings needed to be machined to tolerance on the inside and trued for surface mounting.

Final Project: The project was printed by X-One when the larger housing tolerance problems were found. We received boxes of these castings, which were ultimately thrown away. A few surviving parts remain (which are solid metal and extremely heavy). There are a total of three parts, which reduces build time and has a huge time savings from standard metal machining. Ultimately, the best method we found (most cost effective and fast) was cutting basic parts with a waterjet, then layering up for 3D effect, and to achieve the internal chamber structure (complex counter-rotating screws).

Plans and licensing available.

Infinity Turbine 1 MW ROT Turbine Dual 24 inch diameter rotors with 12 inch stack height with three stages

Radial Outflow Turbine 1MW AC Generator Hermetically Sealed

Using a scaled up version of existing ROT technology, this design may produce 1 megawatt of power. Turbine would operate at full load speed of 3600 rpm. Turbine is direct mounted to an induction generator (2-pole). Due to the large size of the generator, it is likely a higher voltage than typical (2400V+) and would probably need to be direct grid connect because grid tie controllers cannot be found in this size or voltage. Size of generator likely to be 31in OD and needs a custom cast iron housing for direct refrigerant cooling.

Construction of plates and turbine are possible using current manufacturing capabilities. Large cast iron housings are likely to be outsourced to a vendor (several available). Generator may be an induction motor from a chiller motor supplier (operating in reverse) if no generator suppliers can be found.

Producing fresh water from saltwater, or cleaning up producer water from drilling and wastewater operations remain a key sector in the mining, and manufacturing industry

Desalination

Infinity Turbine is currently working on the development of incorporating Teflon with SDR (Spinning Disc Reactor) technology to implement a commercial scale shock electrodialysis process (a recently developed electrokinetic process, which can be used to continuously desalinate artificial seawater).

Problem: Conventional desalination technologies such as distillation and reverse osmosis are well suited for the supply of fresh water at large scale. The expensive infrastructure and high capital, operating, and maintenance costs associated with these technologies, however, limit their application in remote or underdeveloped areas.

Concept: Infinity is working within its developed technologies to utilize the amazing qualities of Teflon, static electricity, and cavitation (sonochemistry) to further promote simple low cost solutions for removing salt from water.

Electrolytes are characterized by their ionic conductivity. It is desirable that overall results from the dominant contribution of the ions of interest (e.g. Li+ in lithium ion batteries or LIB). However, high values of cationic transference number achieved by solid or gel electrolytes have resulted in low leading to inferior cell performances. Organogel polymer electrolyte characterized by a high liquid-electrolyte-level with high t+ for LIB. A conventional liquid electrolyte in presence of a cyano resin was physically and irreversibly gelated without any initiators and crosslinkers, showing the behavior of lower critical solution temperature. During gelation, the electrolyte followed a typical Arrhenius-type temperature dependency, even if its viscosity increased dramatically with temperature. Based on the Li+- driven ion conduction, LIB using the organogel electrolyte delivered significantly enhanced cyclability and thermal stability.

Corn Starch Electrode Coating

Starch as a green binder: It is demonstrated that starch can be successfully implemented as a binder in energy storage systems with non-aqueous electrolytes. These devices are characterized by a stable cycle life (for 50,000 cycles) at a nominal voltage of 2.5 V. Moreover, the use of starch-based conductive glue improves the electrochemical performance, especially reducing the internal resistance of the device. Starch-bound electrodes display lower equivalent distributed resistance (EDR) values than electrodes using carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) as the binder.

Printable: Corn starch and citric acid, two low-cost and abundant materials, were used for establishing a novel screen printable hydrogel for printed electronics applications. Corn starch was modified with citric acid by melt-blending, the so obtained thermoplastic starch was ground to powder and added to a water-starch suspension.

Flexible: Starch, as one of the most abundant natural polymers, has been exhibiting great potentials in the development of environmental-friendly FEs due to its inexpensiveness, good processability, and biodegradability.

Stranded Gas to Power, Heated Fluid, and Refrigeration using Capstone Turbine and other prime movers including waste heat turbine generators using organic rankine cycle

Stranded Gas to Power, Heated Fluid, and Refrigeration using Capstone Turbine and other prime movers including waste heat turbine generators using organic rankine cycle

Oil Producers: Use your stranded gas heat to generate power, hot water, and refrigeration

Producing oil and flaring gas ? Need to use that heat for something for local or Federal regulations ?

We may have the perfect solution.

A. Solid State Power: Using Thermoelectric Devices (or Thermoelectric Generators TEG), we can convert heat into DC power. That is put through a inverter for 3-phase AC power which you can use directly. These energy harvesters take heat and make power, without any moving parts. Up to 12 percent efficiency and up to 800C heat available (higher temperatures = more cost).

B. Hot Water: Using heat exchangers, convert flare gas or hot producer water to a liquid for use of heat, or cooling.

C. Absorption Chillers: Absorption chillers are often exhaust fired using thermal energy recovered from

D. Zeolites: Zeolites give you the option of 24 hour liquid heating for cooking, water sterilization, or small amounts of hot water for heat. They can be recharged using the heat from your flare gas. The primary advantage of using Zeolites is the ability to have long term latent heat storage, which can be used any time of the day. Zeolites need to be stored in airtight and watertight containers. Zeolites can be recharged with the latent heat using any heat source between 130-250

E. Gas Turbine: The most efficient (up to 29 percent) use of your stranded gas is via a Capstone Turbine with power from 65 kW to 1,000 kW modules, that can be stacked together.

F. Bitcoin Mining: The most interesting use of stranded gas to power is for Cryptocurrency mining.

50 mm or 2 inch diameter heat pump propulsion examples including cavitation and expander

50 mm or 2 inch diameter heat pump propulsion examples including cavitation and expander

Can a Heat Pump propulsion system extend battery range by 50 percent or more ?

We have been working on a new type of closed-loop CO2 heat pump system which may extend the range of batteries.

This would apply to electric cars, electric trucks, industrial contruction equipment, and battery powered aircraft (drones, RC, and passenger aircraft).

Our patented Modular Block system is perfect for vehicles, homes, and scalable applications. The image on the left is our 2 inch diameter cavitation, turbine, and integral counter-rotating compressor expander (CO2 Jet Turbine) examples. For HVAC installations we're expecting at least a COP of 5.

The concept of the heat pump is to amplify and use heat from both electricity and the environment. An efficient heat pump can have a COP (coefficient of performance) of 2 or more. That means for every 1 kW of electrical input, you get 2 kW of thermal output (cooling or heating). For a typical heat resistor at 100 percent efficiency, you would get a COP of 1.

The concept is to use a high energy dense working fluid like CO2 and leverage the lower boiling temperature (where it goes supercritical around 31.1C or 87.9 F) into a increased pressurized vapor.

There are a wide range of energy possibilities, including using the skin of the vehicle for collecting or dissipating thermal energy. Of particular interest is aviation applications where the upper atmosphere is always a big cold sink (condenser).

In the construction industry, this could easily be applied to vehicles with hydrostatic (hydraulic) drives for stationary (conveyers) or mobile (earth moving equipment) applications.

Currently looking for investors to develop this concept more, so we can approach Tesla and other large battery powered (range anxiety) applications.

The supercritical CO2 phase change system is both a heat pump and organic rankine cycle which can be used for those purposes and as a supercritical extractor for advanced subcritical and supercritical extraction technology.

Application uses include producing nanoparticles, precious metal CO2 extraction, lithium battery recycling, and other applications.

Lithium Sulfur Battery Research using Vapor Deposition of Sulfur on Carbon Nanofiber: One interesting application may be for the research and production of lithium sulfur batteries. Using CO2 may be one possible route to commercialization of production. ( The team found that during the process of depositing sulfur on the carbon nanofiber surface, changing it from a gas to a solid, it crystallized in an unexpected way, forming a slight variation of the element, called monoclinic gamma-phase sulfur - link below.)

The modular construction of the system allow easy integration for new technology developments, and multi-role add-ons. The heart of the system is the phase change liquid pumping techniques, flow bar, and tribo effect electrostatic precipitation collection system. Many of these deployed technologies were developed by Infinity since 2015 making this system the most advanced in the industry. More than 100 of these commercial systems have been built and out around the world.

Swing Adsorption Gas Capacitor Turbine

Another innovation from Infinity Turbine is the CO2 gas capacitor turbine (or gas flow battery).

With a closed loop hybrid of the Brayton Cycle within the Organic Rankine Cycle, Infinity discovered the production of high voltage DC static charges when expanding pressurized CO2 over a hybrid plastic. The speed of the turbine regulates the flow, which in turn, will regulate the storage or production of power. The working fluid (CO2) has a low temperature boiling point which allows it to work with a cavitation compression system, or low grade waste heat to go supercritical.

Enter the CO2 Supercapacitor: This new field was recently published by Nanoscale in 2022: Supercapacitive swing adsorption (SSA) is a recently discovered electrochemically driven CO2 capture technology that promises significant efficiency improvements over traditional methods. (see link below)

The new research confirms that this technology can be used in many applications, including harvesting CO2 from the atmosphere, as well as energy storage devices from remote power generators, off-grid applications, and peak-shaving for demand power periods within the grid.

Power generation or storage can be achieved by solid state static whips or by rotating discs from the turbine (direct drive or free-spooling).

Heat Pump Battery

We have been working on a new type of closed-loop CO2 heat pump system which may extend the range of batteries.

Extremely high C rates can provide burst energy, while at the same time the CO2 can absorb the heat quickly as a insitu cooling system.

As used as a continuous production format under our name of Gas Leverage Turbine, the same format can be used for carbon nanotube production, as well as graphene production.

The applications of this process extend well beyond a flow battery and continuous materials production.

I will develop a page soon to describe the process in more detail (G. Giese).

Solar Energy Options for UK

As the crazy electrical and gas rates increase, the attractiveness of solar energy becomes greater, since the payback on investment is shorter. From the rates I've seen, it looks like power will go up to around 52 p/kWh (around $.60 per kWh) for standard rates (up from around 18-30 p/kWh).

Your options are solar thermal (hot water or hot air from the Sun), solar photovoltaic (PV) generating electricity from the Sun for self use or export back to the grid, and non solar time-of-use battery arbitrage (if you have a cheaper off peak electrical rate, store power in a battery at night, then use during the day).

All options have varying paybacks depending on initial costs and how well you use power.

But first, lets look at ways to reduce your power demand.

Spinning Disc Reactor for Nanoparticle Production to make $24 million per year

For the full review, please download our pdf: 20190425-infinity-supercritical-sdr-nanoparticle-review (see link below).

Spinning Disc Reactors, or SDRs, are a very new type of processing unit that has had new applications discovered every year.

A big field of interest as of lately has been process intensification which is a design approach that focuses on smaller, cleaner, safer, and more energy efficient processes. One design that has received considerable attention as of late has been the spinning disc reactor (SDR). Its basic design includes one or more liquid streams being flowed onto a quickly rotating disc.

The centrifugal acceleration from the rotation creates a very thin liquid film which significantly heightens the mass transfer and micro-mixing ability of the liquid streams. It also is a continuous feed reactor which can be applied to many processes that have relied on large volume and high residence time designs like batch or continuously stirred tank reactors (CSTR).

While the SDR can be used for many different processes, it excels greatly in a specific few. These include processes that rely on precipitation and uniformly mixed reactants. These traits allow for SDRs to be used in the bottom-up production of nanoparticles, where particles are created through nucleations and subsequently crystal growth. This is where batch reactors and CSTRs aren’t as easily applied due to their high volumes and lack of sufficient mixing ability. “Top-down” processing where bulk material is ground down into nanoparticles is typically avoided when trying to achieve nanoparticles of a certain size and narrow size distribution due to the lack of control over the process.

In 2010, the global market for quantum dots was low, sitting at $67 million [27]. It was projected to have an amazing 59.3% compound annual growth rate, which was mostly realized and by 2016 it has become a $610 million global market (with the estimated CAGR it was predicted to reach $670 million by 2015) [28]. The current growth rate is estimated at 41.3% now for 2016 to 2021, predicting the global market to reach $3.4 billion by 2021 [28].

Both silver and titanium dioxide nanoparticles have a realized and open market to enter with predicted growth and new applications coming out consistently. The cost to produce the materials is rather low and the production ability seems high enough, especially with silver, that a company could actively pursue using an SDR to produce the nanoparticles with success. Since the proof of concept and idea is already detailed, there would be a low cost of entry into these markets as well. The revenue from such could be used to support R and D into quantum dots or pharmaceutical nanoparticles.

Strategy: (prices updated on 5 January 2021)

Silver Nano Particles Production at $14.25/gram Sell Price ($285/20/ml):

[Note: these are 2017 figures. For 2021 double the figures below.] If silver nanoparticles of 99% purity or higher can be produced anywhere in the range of 10 nm – 40 nm, they can be sold at a wholesale price of $3+ a gram ($6/gram in 2021). To undercut the market to allow for entry I assumed a price of $2 a gram ($4/gram in 2021). This comes out to be about $24 million a year in revenue for 2017 ($48 million in 2021). As seen in Table 15, this comes out to about $12 million a year in profit for 2017 ($24 million a year for 2021). Referencing Section 2.21, a producer with the production rate would have a 1.56 percent market share of the global market.

CO2 Cavitation Device Used for Pumping and Sonochemistry Experiments

CO2 Cavitation Device Used for Pumping and Sonochemistry Experiments

Make Rocket Fuel from CO2

Infinity has already built lots of closed-loop supercritical CO2 systems, and experimented with CO2 cavitation to make a one-moving-part liquid CO2 pump.

Infinity currently sells a cart-mounted portable on-demand supercritical CO2 phase change system for $150,000 which can be used for the experiments listed below, along with many others. It is a cart which was designed to fit through any standard door, hallway, or elevator and has heaving duty casters for mobility.

We are currently looking for funding to develop the following:

1. On-Demand CO2 to Alcohol: Using our closed-loop liquid CO2 phase change system, adding Nafion in the process to make alcohol. Inputs: Liquid CO2, water, and electricity. About 3-4 kW to make a liter of alcohol (from lab experiments).

2. CO2 to Alcohol with In-Situ Power Generation: Using our closed-loop supercritical CO2 phase change system, produce the power via miniature CO2 turbine generator of static electricity generator (SEG) to power the conversion via Nafion.

3. Spin-To-Liquid (STL): A novel one-step approach to producing alcohol from liquid CO2 using a cavitation device with Nafion. This is a one-moving-part device employing sonochemistry with inputs of water and liquid CO2. Electricity is produced in-situ. Shaft rotation is required to spin the device (this can be done via a electric motor, pressure expanding turbine, or other shaft rotation such as a wind turbine).

You can further our efforts by buying our $150,000 systems (which we build - and have four in stock) or by considering an investment to fund our development.

Teaser: Why was Nikola Tesla so fascinated with static electricity and spinning discs ? Our guess is that he had already found the worlds best battery - water. The Tesla turbine (while a fascinating pump) was actually a static electricity generator originally designed to charge water. All of his Colorado Springs experiments revolved around static electricity. Power generation and (wireless) transportation was via static electricity.

The ORC Cycle is Reversible in Heat Pump Applications

Heat Pump ORC

Infinity has build more than one hundred phase change systems including CO2, R245fa, and other refrigerants.

The ORC process is reversible, in fact one of the first chiller conversions to ORC was exactly that under the name of PureCycle.

The wide array of phase-change dynamics allow us to use this closed-loop process to produce power, apply process intensification, material extraction (botanical, precious metal, recycling batteries), Electrostatic Precipitation (ESP), HVAC, cooling, and more.

The unique characteristics of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) make it one of our favorites, since it goes supercritical at such a low temperature, which can take advantage of solar thermal, geothermal, and computer CPU low grade heat (cloud and Bitcoin).

Vacuum Dry Kiln for drying Lumber

Infinity Turbine with Global Energy are developing DIY plans and kits for kiln vacuum drying lumber. I invented the Global Container Kiln back in 1990 by converting standard shipping containers into dry kilns for the small sawmills. Infinity Turbine has specialized in developing simple pressure vessels and systems with it's renewable waste heat turbine generators back in 2008, and has extensive experience in pressure vessels. It's a natural fit.

Why a vacuum kiln ? Lumber prices are crazy. Homebuilders cannot find quality lumber (supplies are limited), and have turned to buying a portable sawmill, which produces green lumber. For building, that lumber needs to be dried. This is also true for cabinet makers, and other wood craft business.

Our container kiln was a standard dry kiln and could KD (kiln dry) hardwoods in 30 days. That's too long for most.

A vacuum kiln is the answer. Smaller chambers can dry in 3 days or less.

Supercritical CO2 can treat Nafion for Direct Methanol Fuel Cells

Supercritical CO2 to treat Nafion for Direct Methanol Fuel Cells

Supercritical carbon dioxide treatment was used to enhance performance of NR212. The microstructure of NR212 membranes was reorganized after the Sc-CO2 treatment. The treated NR212 membranes showed higher proton conductivity than Nafion 117. The treated NR212 membranes showed lower methanol permeability than Nafion 117. Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (DMFC) performance of the treated NR212 membranes was better than Nafion 117 (2012). The Nafion-grafted-polystyrene sulfonic acid (N-g-pssa) exhibits higher ion conductivity and lower methanol permeability than that of Nafion 115. The N-g-pssa membranes are tested as electrolytes in a direct methanol fuel cell. Compared with the as-received NR212 membranes, all the Sc-CO2 treated NR212 membranes show higher proton conductivity and better capacity of barrier to methanol crossover. From Fenton test, it can be found that the Sc-CO2 treated NR212 membranes have better chemical stability than that of NR212 membranes. Therefore, NR212 membranes treated by the Sc-CO2 method may be promising candidate electrolytes for DMFC applications (2020).

Back then we looked at using a Fischer Tropsch catalyst to convert CO2 and H2 into fuel grade ethanol and methanol. Hydrogen was problematic (too expensive to produce) so we looked at reversing a methanol fuel cell (electrolyzer). The project was shelved in 2005. But with renewed interest in the XPrize, we are now looking at adapting our developed Supercritical CO2 Systems to work with a reverse fuel cell (RFC) using Nafion.

FileMaker Database Solutions To Get Organized

web engine developed to avoid lousy wordpress hassles

web engine developed to avoid lousy wordpress hassles

Why I Left Wordpress and developed my own Web Page Engine

For the past 6 years I've been using WordPress. Initially, I thought it was super easy to build and maintain websites (I had over six), but then quickly realized it was the big Trojan Horse in the room. Basically, they lure you in with flashy sites, then bog you down with Microsoft-like annoyances (uploading plug-ins to fix basic site user experience problems) and other inherencies. One feature I loved was a mobile upload using a smartphone app. It was great until I found out that images were not rotated properly, and yes, you guessed it, there's a plug-in to fix that. So annoying. It got so bad I found myself spending more time trying to fix the base operability than actually building content.

So I decided to rely on what I know best. And that was FileMaker Database. The essence of FileMaker is to storage and manage data, and replicate success, while eliminating having to do things over and over. I used this basic foundation to write a database which stored all my content (text), links, images, and pdfs and then present them in a logical format based on functionality and good content creation tags presented by the search engine Google (most searches are done from their base). This includes tags they consider important, and leaving out the gobbledygook that is not necessary.

Time savings from not dealing with WordPress issues, image management, and basic user experience were quickly realized. While more time is spent on developing a strategy, the huge time savings by eliminating duplication and confusion quickly bubbled to the top.

Now I can build, modify, and create content quickly and easily. The images and pdfs are contained within the app, so I don't have to worry about managing separate folders of each. Keep your images web friendly at around 300kb and pdf documents the same. If you need huge files, then store them remotely (separately) and link to them for speed. For movies, use Vimeo and YouTube as your storage medium and link or embed them. This not only broadens your exposure to the web for visibility, but allows you to build additional SEO and page ranking. This happens intrinsically when you link back.

The basic premise of the Web Engine strategy is to have a web page, which is comprised of blocks of information (similar in nature to WordPress, but delivered much better). Gone or endless options on text type and size and confusion in WordPress. Each page is part of a group of pages for your website. Blocks comprise the content of that page, also part of a database. Each block has options for text only, image only, text and image, or raw data (in case you want to utilize code which already exists in HTML format). Using any of those options gives you complete control of appearance and delivery.

Gone is the contact page. Instead, why not give interested viewers the ability to contact you from the top and bottom

of the page. I've never understood why it has to be an Easter Egg hunt just to send and email or make a call.

First Principles is the living methodology of Nikola Tesla and Elon Musk. Make it yours. That is, functionality over form (purpose vs. flash).

Who is this type of web strategy good for ? Those who want to delivery a message quickly, efficiently, and those who want to deploy information.

We base the business functionality of this strategy incorporating the QR code. The QR code gives quick link access to information. We recommend you put one on each page, which when printed out (each webpage generated can be printed out on standard format paper), gives the reader the ability to point their smartphone at the code and immediately link up to the page, or to order a part, or to reference a fix, or to buy a product. Instantly. Quickly.

Eliminate manual duplication. With WordPress, there was a time when you could duplicate information. For some reason, that was eliminated (of course, unless you search, find, and activate a plug-in). This means that had to manually work around the issue and take time to duplicate a page, a block, or other information. With Web Engine, duplicating pages or blocks is as simple as clicking a button. Because this is a database, you can export lots of pages, blocks, or other information, and then import them back in as new. Simple. Fast.

Make information handling simple. Any website is basically a information management system. The better you can strategize and have that information automatically organized, gives you the leading edge over your competition. Some of my background is developing equipment and systems, which involve lots of parts. My biggest pet peeve was not being able to just click, buy, and ship. The antiquated dealer network, dealer relationship, quotes, and purchase orders were just a waste of time. Give me information to buy, and let me buy. Save my time so I can go have fun or focus on what I actually enjoy doing. No, I don't need to have lunch with my supplier rep, and develop a relationship with a person just to buy a part. What I want is information quickly, accurately, and the ability to act on it. Streamlined. Efficient.

New features just added include sitemap, rss feed, structured data recipe, structured data organization, structured data website, structured data breadcrumbs, and structured data article. Now every block has a anchor ID. Also added drop-down menu bar for easy navigation.

If you want to empower yourself, your ideas, and your content, consider Web Engine. It's a choice that gives you the freedom to develop, build, maintain, and deliver.
